The BBB seeks motivated, analytical volunteers with strong communication skills and an interest in gaining uniquely valuable experience.
The volunteer dispute resolution position generally entails the following:
Dispute Resolution: Assisting consumers and businesses in resolving marketplace disputes. The BBB mediates various types of issues involving financial services, the home improvement industry, retail, mail order, online shopping, and many others. An interesting and challenging opportunity for anyone who is a good listener and enjoys talking to people and solving problems.
Must be able to use computer and email. Excellent phone manner and writing skills required. Prior dispute resolution experience is not necessary – will train. Minimum 10 hours per week - flexible schedule.
Bureau mail handlers: Do you have the ability to fold and insert letters into envelopes? If you do, this is the volunteer opportunity for you! We need mailings done throughout the month, with larger mailings at the beginning of each month. Bring a friend or two and visit while you volunteer and process mail for two to four hours.
Clerical and office volunteer: Help prepare BBB Accredited Business packets, plaques, copy, scan documents and other administrative work. One or two volunteers needed approximately twice a month for two to four hours each month.
Events coordination: Looking for a volunteer to commit long term to help coordinate our biggest event of the year, the Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics award dinner. In addition, several volunteers are needed for the silent auction part of the event. Torch Award volunteers must possess excellent phone and computer skills.
